It's Official: President Barack Obama? Now What?Minimize

With the words, “So help me God,” today Barack Obama became the 44th President of the United States of America!

This has certainly been an emotional weekend beginning on Saturday, January 17th, when President Obama and Vice President Joseph Biden took the symbolic train ride from Philadelphia to Washington, D.C. I could feel the tears begin to swell as I saw Obama wave to the cheering crowds at select locations. Then on Monday, January 19th, with the honoring of Dr. Martin Luther King, Jr., I reflected on the civil rights movement of the 60’s. Listening to many being interviewed who worked with Dr. King and experienced first hand the challenges of that time, I reflected on the words of the ‘I Have A Dream Speech’ that Dr. King spoke on the steps of the Lincoln Memorial.

And then today…as over a million of people assembled in our nation’s capitol…we witnessed a momentous occasion as the first African-American was administered the U.S. Constitutional oath to the most powerful office in the land! To see the exuberance and joy of the people with tears flowing, both white & black and rich & poor, I couldn’t help but become emotional.

But in the midst of the celebration, I felt a spiritual aura that reflected the seriousness of the moment! Even while some critics felt that President Obama’s inauguration speech did not meet their expectation of a rhetorical oration, he accurately outlined the challenge for our day as he shared his heart to the people. And to quote him, “But our time of standing pat, of protecting narrow interests and putting off unpleasant decisions – that time has surely passed. Starting today, we must pick ourselves up, dust ourselves off, and begin again the work of remaking America. For everywhere we look, there is work to be done.”

NOW WHAT? For me… today is not only an emotional time of celebration but a personal “call to arms.” God is calling us to destiny! For everywhere we look, there is work to be done!

Please comment and share what today means to you. Be blessed --- A. Glenn Brady

It was very emotional to see the impossible of man become possible with God. We just have to recognize that our time has come and that God is keeping the promise that he gave to Simon as he helped Jesus carry that heavey cross up Galgotha's Hill. It is now our time as a nation to band together and change the mindset of those who have eyes and cannot see and the hearing of those who have ears and cannot hear. President Obama is the beginning of God's shift in the heavenlies and I want to be in the shift. This is the day that I have prayed for. I feel God is fast on his way back and not just to get a church without spot or wrinkle, but to find us working and establishing the Kingdom of God on earth. The past is over and this is definitely a new day. A day where I feel God is rejoicing with His body of people that he created even before the foundation of the world

Well Thank God!... I was there to experience it first hand... hundreds of thousands outside in the cold, and I was sittiing in Constitution Halll in the warmth watching all the days festivities from 8am church service to the 2pm Helicopter ride out! I was emotional, as I always am by Americans Process. I love our democracy, our constitution, and to see all the citizens there especially Fmr Presidents it was Amazing. Our nation is REALLY INCREDIBLE Ordinary men have made what we come to know as the United States Of American!!! Then I reflected on ARETHA FRANKLIN SINGING "MY COUNTRY TIS OF THEE" And Her souldul sound griped the pit of my stomach!!!!!! AMERICA IS THE BEST!!!!!!!!!! body of Christ we have to uphold to truth of God and Proclaim his Truth Unabridged!!!!!!!!!!!! LET GOD BE TRUE AND EVERYMAN A LIE!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

It was so great. I was not able to attend in person, but we had a gathering at my relative’s house. I participated in standing, pledging of allegiance, the prayer, and standing for the swearing in on Mr Obama to become the President. Before this day, I wrote an essay called, Ladies and Gentlemen, the President of the United States. It is very good reading. If you would like a copy, please email me at franklin.rutledge@anthem.com. What a great speechless moment in history.

It was a sobering moment, as I looked at the tears flow from my grandmothers eyes. My 30 yr old mind could only imagine what was going thru her mind, having grown up in the deep south, my grandmother put it in perspective for me at that moment. It was way bigger than Barack... It was, and is the Glory of God being revealed!! it was for my grandmother an answer to the question that has tormented her generation for years... Why? To see her with tears flowing from her eyes watching the benediction from Rev. Lowery, I noticed how she sat up in her seat, she squared her shoulders, stuck her chest out a lil bit, she was proud! Proud to have suffered, and thankful to God to live and be a witness, that her labor was not in vain!! The question is "Now What"? For me the answer is to fervently pray for our nation and her Leaders, to not forget that no matter who is in office, The Church still has the ultimate responsibility of changing the world. Do I disagree with some of our Presidents views, of course. However, I understand that no matter what laws are passed or not passed, if the church is not pricking hearts, people will still remain in their rebellious state. Bishop you hit it on the nail, I hear the "call to arms" as well, I'm ready to be about it, and not just talk about it...... Bishop Brady looking forward to you coming back to San Antonio, when Pastor Thompson told me that you were coming back, it truly blessed my soul. Destiny Saved & Destiny Lost definitely made a permanent impact in my life. God Bless u, the Lord say so, we'll see u soon. Min. Sishman Rimpson
