| MISSISSIPPI BURNING AGAIN? | |
| By A. Glenn Brady on11/26/2008 | |
| Greetings everyone and happy Thanksgiving! Amidst all the turmoil and economic challenges of today, we have a lot to be thankful for and can declare, “God has been good.” As President-elect Obama is forming his staff and cabinet, it’s still hard to believe that the election is over. I still have my “Vote Obama-Biden” sign in my front yard. In fact, all my neighbors still have signs in their yards too. None of us want to take them down, as if it will change the results. ... | | | Comments (28) | More... |
| | "IT HAPPENED!" | |
| By A. Glenn Brady on11/7/2008 | |
| I launched my first of a series of blogs that I entitled “The Obama Watch” on January 8, 2008. (Feel free to check out all the previous blogs from the monthly archives.) After an impressive win in the Iowa Caucus, the question was raised, “Can Obama Become President?” Well almost 10 months later on this past Tuesday as nearly 130 million cast their ballots, “IT HAPPENED!” Barack Obama won a decisive, landslide victory to become the 44th President of the | | | Comments (41) | More... |
| | D-DAY IS HERE!!! | |
| By A. Glenn Brady on11/4/2008 | |
| On June 6, 1944 Allied soldiers landed on the shores of Normandy that turned the victory over Hitler's Germany. The invasion was named "D-Day," which simply referred to being the "day" of invasion. Today, November 4, 2008 is the "day" of invasion to the polls. Having just returned from Europe, I can share that the world is anticipating and hoping for an Obama win. While in Italy, I only had CNN news to view on TV in English. I had the opportunity to hear the views and hopes of people throughout Europe, Asia and of course Africa. The global communties of the world feel that an Obama win will aid in healing the damage of a "cowboy" Bush spirit of agression that has polarized are allies & supporters. | | | Comments (15) | More... |
| | MY GREATEST FEAR!!! | |
| By A. Glenn Brady on10/27/2008 | |
| Well, we are “eight” days from a “new beginning” as Americans from across this country will culminate the voting process for the 44th President of the Unites States on Election Day --- Tuesday, November 4th. Based on the data from all polls, Senator Barak Obama is on track to become the first African-American President in this country! According to a national Gallup p ... | | | Comments (36) | More... |
| | Less Than Three Weeks. Exhale or Blow? | |
| By A. Glenn Brady on10/15/2008 | |
| The final debate has ended and most pollsters have concluded that should the election occur today, Senator Barak Obama has the votes in the Electoral College to become the 44th President of the United States. The American people have seen a distinct difference between the candidates and in less than three weeks voters will make their selection. For me, as well as most African-Americans, we are | | | Comments (28) | More... |
| | IS IT OVER? ONE MONTH TO GO!!! | |
| By A. Glenn Brady on10/7/2008 | |
| Well, in the wake of the second presidential debate between Senator Barak Obama and Senator John McCain, the initial polls once again indicate that Obama is the winner. Yes, “That One” is the winner (referring to McCain’s off-the-cuff remark during the debate about Obama). That means the scorecard looks something like this: Obama/Biden - 3 and McCain/Palin – 0. With one month before Election Day, the NBC/Wall Street Journal poll has Oba ... | | | Comments (31) | More... |
| | HISTORY IN THE MAKING!!!! | |
| By A. Glenn Brady on8/29/2008 | |
| Last night, I sat with great pride, glued to my television, watching in awe the electrifying acceptance speech of Senator Barak Obama, the Democratic nominee for President of the United States. Delivered on the 45th anniversary of Dr. Martin Luther King’s famous, “I Have A Dream” speech, this oration will no doubt go down in history as one of the greatest presidential acceptance speech ever given. David Gergen, senior political analyst for CNN, rightfully called Obama’s speech “a political masterpiece,” He declared, “it was in many ways less a speech than a symphony.” Without a doubt, it was a consonance of political sound that received the approval of a standing ovation from over 75,0 ... | | | Comments (49) | More... |
| | Obama and McCain at Saddleback | |
| By A. Glenn Brady on8/16/2008 | |
| Tonight I viewed on CNN the conversations both Sen. Obama and Sen. McCain had with Pastor Rick Warren of the Saddleback Church in California in a Civil Forum on the Presidency. This is the first occasion for both presumptive nominees to grace the same platform. Soon both candidates will be formally nominated by their parties and the race will officially begin. In listening to their responses from the questions by Pastor Warren, you can see a stark difference in their style, views and position. Going in the fall campaign, Sen. Obama has maintained a small 6pt lead over Sen. McCain, but their remains about 9% of the electorate that still remain undecided. The election will boil down to how these undecided voters will cast their ballot once they enter the voting booth. In the next few weeks there will be debates and many interviews. In an environm ... | | | Comments (3) | More... |
| | "Not Who's Coming To Dinner, But Guess Who Got Married?" | |
| By A. Glenn Brady on6/24/2008 | |
| In 2004 when San Francisco defied state law by issuing marriage licenses to same-sex couples, a court later halted the issuances of licenses and declared that same-sex marriages that took place during this period were void. That began the legal wrangling through the courts that made its way to the highest court in California. On May 15th of this year, the California Supreme Court overturn ... | | | Comments (16) | More... |
| | VICTORY to the Giant Killer | |
| By A. Glenn Brady on6/3/2008 | |
| | It’s official: After the final two primaries in Montana and South Dakota today, June 3rd, Obama has become a “Giant Killer!” Who would have thought anyone could have defeated the all powerful Clintons (because Obama had to campaign against both Senator Hillary Clinton, as well as the former President Bill Clinton). Entering the campaign, Hillary Clinton knew she was the presumptive democratic nominee. She had the name --- the money [initially] --- the Democratic machine --- the press, she had it all! But she didn’t have a winning plan!!! | | | Comments (47) | More... |
